The iMIV Classic is available in several different installation packages that include all the cables you need to install it in your vehicle. What package you needs depends on what the vehicle is equipped with.
DVD RTI Package
Designed to be completely plug and play for vehicles with the factory DVD RTI (navigation) system. All connections are into the DVD RTI unit; only the iPod or iPhone dock cable has to be routed to the front of the vehicle. With this package the iMIV Classic has full audio and video support through the RTI screen. A plug and play reversing camera is also available for this package.
Please note that only DVD RTI systems are supported. If your vehicle has an older CD based RTI system it is possible to integrate audio only support; this requires our CD Based RTI Connector. Please see the iMIV Installation Manual for more details.
Note: If your vehicle has a factory RTI system installed, either CD or DVD based, then the question if it is Melbus prepped is irrelevant, and should be ignored in your configuration settings.
Front Mount Package
Intended for vehicles that do not have a factory RTI (navigation) system. It is completely plug and play and requires minimal cable routing. The iMIV Classic can be hidden behind the glove box, in the center console or under the passenger seat.
Be sure that the vehicle is not "Melbus Prepped." This means that there is no factory installed Melbus cable. If you purchased the Satellite Preparation Package (Option Code: 682) then the vehicle is Melbus Prepped. If you are unsure, look in the fuse box in the rear of the vehicle; if it is Melbus Prepped you will find a black eight pin DIN connector and cable wrapped in foam. Alternatively remove the radio and look for a connected eight pin cable.
Melbus Prepped Package
Utilizing the factory installed Melbus cable in many vehicles, it is possible save time and money on an iMIV Classic installation. If your vehicle was purchased with the Satellite Preparation Package (Option Code: 682) then the vehicle is Melbus Prepped. If you are unsure, look in the fuse box in the rear of the vehicle; if it is Melbus Prepped you will find a black eight pin DIN connector and cable wrapped in foam - see here for details. Alternatively remove the radio and look for a connected eight pin cable.
The iMIV Classic plugs in to this cable, however this package includes a 'Generic Power Cable' which needs to be connected to an un-switched (remains on with the vehicle off) power source. A wire tap is included to do this, however it is recommended that you consult a reliable source of information to ensure that you use the correct power wire.
